The Lahore-Islamabad motorway (M2) has been entrusted to Frontier Works Organisation for its overlay and modernization for the next 22 years on Built-Operate-Transfer basis. A signing ceremony in this regard was held on 2^nd Dec 2014 at Headquarter FWO that was attended by the Chairman NHA Shahid Ashraf Tarar, Engineer in Chief Lt Gen Khalid Asghar, and Director General FWO Major General Muhammad Afzal. According to the contract agreement the repair work of M2 will be completed within 3 years. Road safety features, rescue and recovery, distress management, toll plaza and rest area facilities will be given special consideration.
