In order to provide congestion free and environment friendly route from interior city of Karachi, a two lane Lyari Expressway 32 km in length is being constructed along both banks of Lyari River.
It has four interchanges, 16 fyovers, 2 bridges and service road of 25 km. It is being constructed using reinforced earth technology and construction of box and single girder bridges. South bound of Lyari Expressway was opened for traffc in Feb 2008, whereas construction activities are in full swing on North bound.
Rehabilitation of existing Taxi Track is of vital importance because after completion it will be used as second runway for aircrafts and commercial airlines. Along with taxi track, rehabilitation of 3x link roads are also being upgraded with same specification of runway. Now, PAF base will be effectively support to the operation towards Eastern border. Work is in full throttle and will complete in month time.
