Standing as a landmark in transforming arid regions into productive agricultural zones, the Gomal Zam Dam was completed in 2016 on the Gomal River, a key tributary of the Indus, in South Waziristan. This 437-foot high roller compacted concrete (RCC) gravity dam, with an electricity generation capacity of 17.4 MW, irrigates over 163,000 acres of previously barren land in Tank District and Kulachi Tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan through an extensive 462-kilometre canal network. The dam plays a crucial role in promoting regional growth, economic prosperity and food security
