JAGGRAN-II HYDROPOWER PROJECT

The 1,800 meter unidirectional twin-tube, four lane tunnels at Palai and Ala Dhand were constructed to overcome the challenges posed by the Malakand mountain range along the Swat Motorway alignment. Completed in 2021 under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, the project has reduced travel time between Islamabad and Chakdara from four hours to just one hour and forty five minutes. Beyond improving regional connectivity, the tunnels enhance local economic activity and support the socioeconomic development of surrounding communities
